What Does Private Practice Look Like in 2010?
Of 2009 were difficult years for many in the health sector. Like almost all industries, we have been badly affected by poor economic situation.
Many people are not urgent care. Health expenditures have increased for those who are lucky enough insurance, insurance and many have lost because they lost their jobs.
Reforming health care in motion by Congress. It does not look like it’s getting better, as many of us (living or allow us) to make a better life.
What will 2010 bring in practice? What will your practice?
I am not an economist, and no one will mistake me a CPA, but according to my calculations, maintaining a small private practice primarily based on the reimbursement of managed care will be difficult in 2010. As the health of citizens “is out-of-pocket costs increase, there is more competition for the dollar. Competition for all providers of health care, not just the individual in your specialty.
Reimbursement rates decline or remain stagnant. The rising costs. There will always be difficult profitable.
Finally, “Time for dollar” model unsustainable. In this model, we only paid for each hour we work. My reasoning is that if we paid hourly rates receive stagnation, but our costs are the only way to increase economic benefits, work longer hours. But finally, there is not enough hours in a day or if you are burned and inefficient, unhealthy, frustrated.
What is it that the next few years, your company, it is important to take into account this reality. As a profession and as individual business travelers, we offer the following questions so we adapt our business plan:
* No increase in commercial rates, but the rising cost of doing business, how our practice ground financially uncertain?
* How the diversity of our revenue, so we do not only depend on the time “for dollar” model?
* Can we join with like-mined for building professionals in the same or different specialties to complete the group practice, offering a unique approach to health care?
* In a world increasingly competitive health care dollars, how your firm stand out? That maintenance will meet or exceed the expectations of treatment and services?
* Can your products or services outside the flow of managed care reimbursement will be sold?
* If you are of Managed Care-free, how do you do? (Hint: Start with a strong specialization and a good marketing niche).
2010, another year of difficult decisions for those of us in health. We want what is best for our patients, but must rely on the fact that we maintain a financial return. It’s a delicate balance.
If your clinical hours for calm during the holidays, I recommend a couple of hours to write about your company and your career goals for years to come. I did not this year, and I can tell you that my practice of behavioral health and family seems very different this time next year. It is. The old way of doing business does not seem viable for the long term. But it’s ok. Everything changes and that takes time, brainstorming, planning, collaboration and innovative ways to succeed regardless of economic conditions found.
